Day One Do these before you unpack

Document your unit condition with photos Walk every room before you bring anything in. Photograph pre-existing scuffs, stains, damage, or anything that's already not working. Email or text the photos to EWG with a date-stamp so there's no dispute at move-out. This is the single most important thing you can do to protect your security deposit.

Locate your circuit breaker and water shutoff good to know Know where these are before you need them in an emergency. The circuit breaker is typically in a utility closet or hallway panel. The main water shutoff is usually under the kitchen sink or near the water heater.

Test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors Press and hold the test button on each detector until it beeps. If any don't respond or chirp repeatedly, submit a service request through TenantCloud immediately — don't wait.

Save the emergency number in your phone For police and non-emergency dispatch in Pleasanton: (830) 569-3733. Save it now so you don't have to search for it later. For life-threatening emergencies, always dial 911 first.

Within 5 Business Days Time-sensitive — don't skip these

Set up electricity service 5-day deadline Per your lease, you have 5 business days from move-in to transfer electric service into your name. Pleasanton is in a deregulated energy market — go to PowerToChoose.org to compare plans and select a retail electricity provider. Have your unit address ready when you sign up.

Set up water and trash service 5-day deadline Water and trash service in Pleasanton is provided by the City of Pleasanton. Contact City Hall to establish service in your name — call (830) 369-3121 or visit in person at 108 Second St, Pleasanton, TX 78064. Have your lease and a government-issued ID ready.

Set up gas service (if applicable) optional If your unit has gas appliances, service is provided by CenterPoint Energy. Call (800) 352-7152 or visit centerpointenergy.com to start service. Not all EWG units use gas — check your lease or contact us at (210) 698-6900 if you're unsure.

Download the TenantCloud app This is how you pay rent, submit maintenance requests, and communicate with management. Download it free from the Apple App Store or Google Play. Log in with the email address on your lease.

Set up your payment method in TenantCloud ACH is free All rent payments must be made through TenantCloud — no cash or check. Link your bank account for ACH payments, which carry zero fees. Credit card payments are accepted but carry a 2.9% processing fee charged to you. Set this up before your first payment is due so you're not scrambling at the end of the month.

First Week Get fully settled

Update your USPS address Go to moversguide.usps.com to forward mail from your old address to your new Pleasanton address. The Pleasanton Post Office is located at 201 W Goodwin Ave, Pleasanton, TX 78064 if you need to visit in person. There's a small identity-verification fee ($1.10) to complete the change online.

Schedule internet and cable service Internet and cable are your responsibility to set up. Call your provider to schedule installation at your new address. Important: any cable lines, dish installations, or holes in exterior walls require written approval from EWG before a technician does any exterior work. Contact us first.

Update your address with your bank and employer Log into your bank and update your address, or stop by a branch. Notify your employer's HR or payroll department so paychecks and W-2s reach you. Don't forget credit cards, insurance policies, and any auto-pay subscriptions tied to your old address.

Update your address on your driver's license Texas law requires you to update your driver's license address within 30 days of moving. You can do this online at txdmv.gov or in person at your local DMV office.

Get renters insurance EWG's property insurance covers the building — it does not cover your personal belongings. Renters insurance protects your furniture, electronics, and personal property from theft, fire, or water damage, and covers liability if someone is injured in your unit. Register your vehicle if needed If you moved from another state, Texas requires you to register your vehicle and obtain a Texas driver's license within 90 days of establishing residency. The Atascosa County Tax Assessor-Collector's office handles vehicle registration — their Pleasanton office is at 1 St. Mary's St, Pleasanton, TX 78064.

Good to Know Rules and reminders

Understand the no-modifications policy Do not make any external modifications to your unit or building without written consent from EWG first. This includes running new cable or phone lines, drilling holes in exterior walls, installing satellite dishes, or any other structural change. Contact us before anything gets installed.

Know how to submit a maintenance request All service requests go through TenantCloud — not by phone or text. Open the app, tap "Maintenance," and describe the issue with photos if possible.
